Dawn Ellis is the U.S. Department of Education’s (Department’s) Office of Communication and Outreach’s (OCO’s) National Engagement Team’s liaison to parents and families. Prior to coming to OCO, Dawn worked in the Department’s Office of Special Education Programs for 12 years. She has over 27 years of experience working with children and families, including those with disabilities, to improve outcomes and inclusive opportunities. Dawn earned an associate degree from Bakersfield College, a bachelor’s from California State University, Northridge, and master’s and doctorate degrees from Howard University. She is a mother of four, including a young adult with a sensory disability
